As we’re all aware, California is experiencing an exceptional drought. So what exactly are our politicians doing to help prevent it? And what are we doing to help prevent it? Absolutely nothing worth talking about, because no matter what it is, it’s not helping the problem…just stalling it.
“Fools are Without Number.” – Desiderius Erasmus
Laws and restrictions are being placed on the citizens on California, but we’ve been trying that before and look how well it turned out right? Like our great and trusted friend Albert Einstein, “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” We are, according to Einstein, insane. Just look, no matter what we do, there’s always some part of the population that just doesn’t care or that is just ignorant to absolutely EVERYTHING.
Really California? Really, in less than a year we ruined everything. What happened?!?! We suck. That’s what happened. That last gif only reached July 29, 2014 too, if the trend continues and we are currently in the more of April, 2015. We should be dead.
And if you really think about it, California, which was once a dessert and as an industrializing country we tamed the said desert…only to re-desert it by draining it of all water. Some people try so hard to rejuvenate the original not-dry California but the rest of the population does not care. In addition, California is a HUGE tourist magnet. Disneyland, Seaworld, Universal Studios, Disneyland, San Diego Zoo, Catalina, Golden Gate Bridge, Disneyland, and let’s not forget, we are the state right next to the one and only Vegas (Cue ‘In the End‘ by Linkin Park). Now, how many tourists actually go on vacation and worry about water usage. I mean, its not like you live there so it’s not your problem right? I mean, I can’t say I’d disagree, but, that’s not cool.
In addition, the wastefullness of Americans has hit a new low. Foods not considered sell-able, bruised, too small, too light of a color. All this adds up over the country and over the span of only one year, as much as 222 million tonnes of food is wasted. That’s ridiculous especially with the lack of food supply in third-world countries.
We gotta get it together California, AMERICA. We’ve become too accustomed to our comforts that we forget to care for the earth and for our friends. The world does not run on the neglection of unpleasant things, but the kindness that comes from each and every one of us.
